Is it normal to not have a passion?

Is it normal to not have something that you really really like though? Is it fine to be normal? Yes it is.

Some people participate in debate, because they like to compete and win awards. Some people sign up for singing performances, because they just truly like to sing. Some people are willing to stay until 6pm to practice for sport competitions because they genuinely love that sport. Many people are accomplished in certain areas, because they are passionate so they are willing to put effort. Bill Gates is extraordinary, he is very accomplished. He coded for 10,000 hours at least to express his passion towards coding. He became what we call “the extraordinary guy”. You may ask, “What if I don’t have a specific passion, there is nothing for me to spend a lot of effort?

Please don’t force yourself to devote time into an activity that you don’t truly like. It’s a waste of time and money. Debate was not my thing, because I didn’t know how to make a rebuttal and I’m scared of aggressive, competitive opponents.

The society thinks extraordinary people are the ones with many outstanding accomplishments. Why should we force ourselves to become the definition of “extraordinary” the society holds? Why can’t we just admit that we are “normal”?
