“Peanuts,” a daily comic strip written and illustrated by creator Charles M. Schulz since October 1950 has gained much love by people all over the world. 2020 is the 70th birthday of “Peanuts”. To celebrate this, Shanghai is holding an exhibition in honor of Snoopy, an important character from “Peanuts.” The theme of this exhibition, “What a Wonderful Day!” is to create a paradise to forget about time and troubles. The highlight of this exhibition is that it contains the aspects of Chinese culture within the story of Snoopy. Wen-na (文那), a young Chinese artist who is skillful at traditional Chinese mythical paintings, has made great contributions to this exhibition. Her works show the Chinese culture being incorporated into this theme. Many artists from the 1950s until the 1970s including Liu Jinhua (刘建华) and Michael Lau (刘建文) have also contributed to this exhibition, with each of their paintings showing each generation’s childhood.
