“Sliced Color Head”

“Sliced Color Head,” this strange title of the media arts students’ art piece is quite attracting. Mr. Mario who teaches media arts have shared some special digital artworks from several students.

The concept behind ‘Sliced Color Head’ revolves around the students’ ability to utilize their technical expertise in media arts to push the boundaries of conventional portraiture. By taking photographs of their own selves, students were able to improve their photography skills. However, this project was not simply just taking pictures. The central part of this project was employing their skills in graphic design and image editing.

The first step in the process is to take a number of portraits that showcase each person’s unique personality. Following the selection of the photos, the students use their media art techniques to explore with vivid colors, dramatic shadows, and attention-grabbing compositional features. The result is an eye-catching portrayal of their distinct identities.
