Post-Halloween activities in Shanghai

Though the Halloween holiday season is over, the festive spirit lingers on.  Venues across Shanghai are still offering Halloween activities such as haunted houses–a favorite for the young people of “horror-hungry” China–as recently described by Forbes magazine. This year, there are several notable haunted houses to check out.

Pulupulu, already an experienced player in the game of “escape the room” activities, offers its new installation of a 1500 square-meter “horror maze” made to look impeccably like the ancient murder-filled streets of Kowloon in HongKong. Each alley, each road in the setting is elaborately put into place, with props from the countless red lanterns to mounds of creepy porcelain dolls, the area is incredibly realistic, which only intensifies the horror experience. It is recommended to go with up to 5 people, and the entirety of the walk lasts around half an hour.

The annual Happy Valley Halloween celebration lasts till the 12th of November, offering 11 haunted houses, 10 themed performances, and countless other Halloween activities. The popular theme park is also incorporating VR technology into its haunted houses, enhancing the spooky experience. On top of all this, you will also be able to enjoy live music from bands clad in Halloween costumes. All in all, you probably will not find a Halloween event offering as many activities as this one, so don’t miss out!

Stepping away from typical Halloween activities, SAMADSI is an exhibition that aims to capture the feeling of “death” for people who want an “out of this world” experience. The main point of the experience is to try to survive through all the stages by facing fears and engaging in conversations with the host and members of your team. The venue houses 12 rooms, all of different themes, such as “Wealth” and “Loneliness”, with dangers that might “kill” the participants. Thus, making it through the final stage is seen as a very difficult thing to achieve.
