Avengers: Endgame says farewell to Marvel fans with its fast-paced and moving finale

Spoiler Alert! This movie review contains possible spoilers of Avengers: Endgame. Avengers: Endgame is a 2019 Marvel film that features the MCU superhero team: the Avengers. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and produced by Marvel Studios in 2017. It is the 22nd and the last movie of the Marvel universe and is a sequel to The Avengers (2012), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). The movie was released on April 24 in China.

The plot of Avengers: Endgame focuses on the aftermath of the casualty caused by Thanos, the ultimate villain, in Avengers: Infinity War. After Thanos utilized the Infinity Stones to destroy half of all life across the MCU, the world is in ruins. With help from surviving allies, the Avengers come together to leap through time to steal the Infinity Stones and to restore order to the universe. The movie centers on the six members of the Avengers: Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.

The highlight of Avengers: Endgame is the time travel plot. Although going back to the past and changing the history might sound stereotypical, the screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely succeeded at making time traveling a unique and central part of the film. Also, the film focuses more on character development than major plot points. Although a few members of the Avengers, especially Iron Man, received the most attention, the movie still pays tribute other characters by showing the changes in their attitude and mood. In addition, the special effects (CGI) of the movie are undoubtedly amazing, providing a “visual service” for Marvel fans with dramatic battle scenes and animation. In addition, the sacrifice of Black Widow reveals the quality of a true hero who devotes her life to saving the world’s future.

After the movie’s release, Avengers: Endgame received positive feedback for directing, acting skills, entertainment value, and emotional plot from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a score of 96/100 based on 380 reviews, while the critics agree that the movie “does whatever it takes to deliver a satisfying finale to Marvel’s epic Infinity Saga.” Viewers gave Avengers: Endgame an “A+” on CinemaScore, and 5/5 on PostTrak. Peter Travers, a journalist of Rolling Stone, comments, “You don’t have to make jokes about the clichéd time travel plot—the film is ready to make its own.”

Although some critics claim that knowledge regarding the previous MCU films is necessary for watching Avengers: Endgame, the culmination of the Marvel saga is still a blockbuster that successfully entertains the audience.
