Sharks’ Season Episode 1 : Season 1 Sports

Episode 1 – A brief introduction about SMIC Season 1 sports

Introduction

Chloe- Welcome everyone to Sharks’ Season! My name is Chloe Kang and I am a freshman in SMIC. I’ll be your host for the remaining episodes of Sharks’ Season! In episode 1, we will briefly talk about the sports provided in SMIC and for the following episodes, we’ll dive deeper into each sport. Today, we have two special guests, Kelly and Sarah who are juniors in SMIC to introduce to us about the sports in SMIC. Hello, Kelly and Sarah, could you please introduce yourself?

Kelly- I have been in SMIC for 10 years. Throughout the past 10 years, I have watched our school athletes improve. At first, our SMIC athletes were regarded as weak in the eyes of the players in other schools; however, I have seen an improvement on our ambitious athletes’ performance in games with other schools. Now the athletes from our school are finally being seen as strong and ambitious athletes.

Sarah- Hi everyone!  I’m Sarah and I have been in SMIC for 13 years. Because I was part of the SMIC community for a long time, I have seen many changes and improvements of our school athletes and I am very excited to share those accomplishments of the athletes with everyone.

Chloe- Wow, it seems like both Sarah and Kelly have a deep relationship with the SMIC sports! As everyone knows, one of our ESLRs, being a healthy individual, is an important ESLR that both students and teachers in SMIC follow. Participating in various sports is definitely  a way to become a healthy individual.

Kelly- Yes you are right, it is well known to SMIC students that sports is a very important aspect of everyday life. SMIC emphasizes physical health of students and provides many options for them to choose from.

Sarah- Now let’s dive deeper into each sport SMIC provides!

Start

Chloe- There are a total of 4 seasons a year and in the first season, we have volleyball!

Kelly- SMIC has 4 teams competing as volleyball teams. There are boys Varsity, junior varsity and girls varsity and junior varsity as well.

Sarah- All our SMIC volleyball athletes have put a lot of time and effort into volleyball. All 4 teams competed in the SISAC and established some notable accomplishments.

Kelly- Tennis is also included in season 1 sports.

Sarah- I heard that our tennis team won many championships, ranging from gold to bronze.

Chloe- Yes they did and I’m so proud of them! Next, starting off season 2, basketball is starting..

Kelly- for We also have jv and varsity teams of boys and girls! They also participated in tournaments and competed with other international schools!

Sarah- We are very excited to see their performance and lets hope they will bring a gold medal back to the school!

Kelly- I believe everyone would be excited about the start of basketball season. Not only us, but the athletes especially! We have a special guest today, an athlete from varsity girls.

Chloe- Alright! Thankyou for your time!

Kelly- Sounds great to me! Let’s all look forward to their performance!

Sarah- In season 3, we have football and badminton

Chloe- Even though we do not have training places for football in school but our school still supports our football team to attend competitions outside of school

Kelly- And do you guys know that for badminton, our school not only competes with other international schools, but also friendly events such as competition between SMIC parents and students.

Chloe- Wow I wasn’t aware of that but that sounds fun! Next, some all year rounds sport would be swimming

Sarah- This year, SMIC finally formed our own fabulous swimming team and competed in the tournament. Our swimming athletes had gone to their first swim meeting and had won in the first three places! Many individual swimmers had also gained medals and certificates. I remember I found swimming too difficult so I gave up halfway in the middle.

Chloe- Wow swimming does look hard then, it seems even harder to get a medal. In addition to swimming, this year we also have a new sport added to the athletic department!

Kelly- Which is… Darts!

Sarah- That’s right! The school has hired professionals to teach our students to master the art of the darts. They had also built and designed a room within the school gym just for darts training.

Chloe- During the last assembly on Thursday, the student director Mr AJ even mentioned a student who won first place in a darts competition.

Kelly- Amazing! Darts seem like a very interesting sport, it’s different from other sports it’s so unique in its own way. I also really love the darts room by the way, the lights can be switched on and I love the vibe in there.

Sarah: Yea! I would really love to enter the room and give darts a try. I want to see how many points I can hit!

Chloe: Me too, and by the way the school seems to take darts very seriously, there was even an assembly to introduce darts to SMIC officially, do you guys remember?

Kelly- Yes I remember, of course ,and I agree! Let’s all go to the gym and try together someday

Sarah- I also remember the assembly about darts, the principal seemed to be proud of this new sport being introduced to SMIC. Maybe one day I will be joining the darts team, who knows.

Kelly: Sure, it doesn’t hurt to try anyway

Chloe: Now we’ve finished introducing all the sports being provided in the 4 seasons in SMIC, in the next episode we will be exclusively focusing on a season 1 sport which is volleyball! The teams have made huge improvements and achievements in the past month
