Children get together to give thanks on Thanksgiving

On November 22, kindergarteners celebrated Thanksgiving in costumes in the first floor auditorium.

Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated by countries all over the world. Likewise, the students and teachers of SMIC-I celebrate this holiday. Just like past few years, the Chinese track teachers and kindergartners have gathered together to celebrate this joyful day.

The loud kids could be heard from far away as they rushed into the first floor auditorium, while the teachers tried in vain to calm them down to start the celebration. After all of the kindergarteners entered the room, the teachers played music with lively beats. The noise of chattering gradually disappeared, and the children listened to it carefully as their eyes set onto the screen in the front of the auditorium. As the children finally settled down, the teachers put on the video of a singing and dancing turkey, and the children began singing along.

When the song and dance came to an end, a teacher, who was the main host, went on stage to get the kids excited for the upcoming activities. In order to maintain the gleeful atomsphere, all of the teachers went on the stage and began to dance along with the beat of the turkey song. The children quickly started dancing along with them. After the dance was over, there was a brief introduction on Thanksgiving from Mrs. Carroll. Then the teachers went on stage again, but this time there were two teachers who were dressed up as turkeys. From the sound of the excitement of the children, it could be seen at the time that the next dance would be the highlight of the event.

Isaac Ma (10B), who was also there at the time, commentated on the turkey song saying, “It [stayed] in my head the rest of the day.” After the main song, short stories were told to the children. After a few more songs about this holiday, all the children and teachers cheerfully headed back to their classrooms.

This year was another success as the students were both entertained and educated during the event. There is a lot more to expect from the teachers for the Thanksgiving event next year.
