2023 Middle High School Sports Day

Class spirit

On September 28, 2023, Middle and High school students in SMIC had a sports day. On the day, students showed up in costumes that were designed to show class spirit. Before event day, the teacher and students in each homeroom had discussed and decided on an outfit and how they were going to present in the parade. Some homerooms had prompts such as balloons, speakers, and confetti.

Schedule of The Day

On the event day, each homeroom lineup for the parade. Each class had to walk around the track and stop at a specific area to show off what they had prepared. Some classes had a slogan and a class had released their balloons which created a beautiful and joyful view. The parade had opened a good start for the sports day. After the parade, some teachers and the president gave speeches. After their speech, sports day officially begins. Students participated in various competitions such as relay, high jump, and long jump. Not only were there individual competitions but there was also class competition, such as tug of war and crab soccer. Moreover, there were also booths where clubs sell and promote their club. Many clubs sold small items to collect money in preparation for later club events.

Big Success

This year’s sports day was a big success and a unique one because this is the first year where SMIC have a parade. In the past few years, dance club members performed in the open ceremony but this has changed into a parade this year. The parade had better show off students’ team spirit and it encouraged more people to early participate. Unfortunately, it rained in the middle of sports day. It had brought a pause to the event but soon after the rain stopped, students and teachers returned to the track and competitions continued.
