Teenagers almost always tend to compare themselves to their peers regarding academic accomplishments. This causes many students to feel unconfident about themselves because they think some of their peers achieved more than them despite being at the same age level.
There will always be solutions to problems. In this short article, I will offer some solutions to peer pressure
- Recognize your own strengths
Everyone has different talents: some people are stronger at academics, yet this doesn’t mean that everyone needs to receive straight As to be successful. You can might not notice, but you might be great at acting, singing, and dancing. You might be a great public speaker and a funny comedian. You might not notice, but you have great qualities such as being kind, sympathetic, and responsible.
2. Focus on making your own progress rather than comparing yourself to others
We all make progresses don’t we? Stop comparing your experiences to other people’s achievements, compare your current achievements to your past accomplishments instead. You will certainly realize how much you’ve grown from five years ago, you might be understanding concepts that you didn’t understand before. You might’ve learned new skills and new talents that shaped who you are, making you a different person from five years ago
3. Understand that you will be successful eventually
There’s a saying called “All roads lead to Rome”, it means that there are many paths to success and you will eventually arrive at the height you want to aim for. There will always be hardships in life, and there will always be moments that you doubt if you’re going to be as successful as your peers. Keep in mind that you will success eventually, maybe just later than your peers. In the long run, everyone around you including you will find a way to succeed.
