Students go to Haichung Ocean Park for spring field trip
On April 4, MHS took its annual spring field trip to the newly opened Haichung Ocean Park. This park holds many ocean creatures to see and many shows to enjoy. There were species of sea lions, dolphins, sharks, penguins, polar bears, and many more. Some animals were specially trained to do certain actions. For example, the seals followed the hands of any person who circled their hands around the seals’ head. There were also rides that people could also enjoy.
Brenda Chen (11C) liked the field trip because it was interesting when she got to watch the animals and ride the exciting roller coaster. Cindy Ji (11C) also stated that ” I liked it because I had time to spend time together with my friends.” Brenda learned the importance and beauty of nature and felt that she had to pay more attention to saving these beautiful animals. Instead of the regular field trip destination of forest parks, Brenda liked the ocean park more. Cindy, on the other hand, thought that the field trip took too much time, and she would rather spend the time learning and doing her schoolwork. It was fairly crowded at the time, so Brenda expressed that if they could have stayed longer and not have the field trip scheduled right before exams, many more students would have attended. Both recommended Disney Land for the next field trip destination because they want to go before the it becomes even pricier.
This field trip was a good opportunity for students to take a break from the overwhelming schoolwork, have fun with their friends, and learn more about the different types of ocean species.
