Students are Pumped for UEFA Champions League 2018-19

The UEFA Champions League, the most coveted football competition, is back again with, as Dylan Sanders (9A) put it, “a lot of top tier teams such as Manchester City, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus.” Many people around the world are excited about how this year’s competition will play out. Numerous famous players are competing for the cup, battling to see who will be crowned as this year’s champion. We’ve asked several students for their opinions regarding this year’s UEFA Champions League 2018-19.

We asked Luke Chong (12A), Chester Poon (10C), and Dylan a few questions about their thoughts on the quality of teams. All three interviewees said that they liked the quality of the teams this year, and that they were very excited for the competition as a whole. When asked which match they believed was going to be the closest or most interesting, the interviewees were divided in their opinions.

Chester stated, “The closest match would be between Paris Saint-German and Liverpool and the most interesting match would be Manchester United against Juventus.” Luke disagreed saying, “The match between Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur would be the closest and the most interesting match would be Real Madrid against Roma.” Dylan, however, said, “If Barcelona and Real Madrid were to play against each other, then that would be the most interesting match because players would be scoring left to right…there’s so much happening.” He later added, “If Barcelona and Manchester City were to play against each other than that would be one of the closer matches in the UEFA Championships.”

Finally, we asked them which team they support and which team do they predict will win this year’s championship. Luke said, “Sadly, the team I support didn’t qualify, but I would like to see Barcelona be this year’s victor.” Chester joked that he supports Manchester United because his name is in the team’s name, but he ultimately predicted either for Paris Saint-German or Barcelona to be the winners. Dylan has and continues to support Juventus, hoping that the Champions League Cup will return to Italian grounds this year.

These different teams are supported around the world, hoping that this year will be their year. However, there is only one trophy, and there can only be one victor. It will be exciting to see the results as the year progresses closer and closer to the coveted final.
