Singers and dancers showcase their talents at the 2019 Spring Concert!
On April 12, from 4:15 to 6:00 PM, SMIC-I hosted their annual spring concert in the high school first-floor auditorium. Comprised of 25 different performances, teachers, parents, and students cheered on the participants as they danced and sang along to the songs that they have been practicing for weeks.
“I liked ‘No Sunshine + Hard Carry,’ ‘Fire,’ and, ‘I’m so tired.’ I think all three performances were well prepared… and they had a vibe different from other people. The crowd [was more] involved, and [that] brought up the intensity of the concert,” commented Elvin Kim (ET12C).
“I was really inspired by how much effort everyone put in. There’s a lot of visible improvement from the last performances. Not that they were bad, just that these are better! I could not properly express how impressed I am at the dancers’ ability to learn and develop! I can’t say that I liked any particular one because I think the process is more important than the result,” remarked spring concert dancer, Mavis Goh (ET10A). She commented that, “Naturally, practicing has its ups and downs, and since I have a perfectionist nature, there are plenty of times where I was dissatisfied with myself. However, the fun times make it worth it, and producing the final dance together is immeasurably rewarding. Thank you to my dance groups for practicing and working hard, and lots of thanks to Mrs. Jeannie, Julianne, and Aimee for making this happen!”
Isha Shirsat (ET9B), the MC, said: “We started writing the script around one week ago, and it was pretty challenging. Both Daniel and I had never MCed before, [and] right before the concert started, we had to make last minute changes to the script. I think I did an okay job, considering the fact that it was my first time being the MC. I thought Spring Concert was amazing as always! I really appreciate Mrs. Jeannie’s hard work and effort.”
The Spring Concert ended with a performance given by the HS Dance Club to a song “Fire”. “I’ve watched all of the performances during spring concert and I believe that among the several performances, the last performance, Fire (a song by BTS), was the best,” Maro Yoon (ET10C) stated, “their dance moves were very powerful, and I could tell that they were enjoying the experience too.” With large applause, the Spring Concert ended fruitfully.
This year, SMIC-I is currently hosting the 2019 Spring Arts Festival, which comprises of 5 separate big events. Two events – SPRING ART SHOW: “Listen to the echoes”, and Spring Concert are already over. However, there are three more amazing events are coming up!
