On October 24, actor David Schwimmer also responded to the Blackpool Police image by posting a video of him recreating the scene and sneaking out of a New York store holding an armful of beer.

“Officers, I swear it wasn’t me,” Schwimmer tweeted. “As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation.”

The Blackpool Police believed him and commented in a Facebook post, “Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We’re so sorry it has to be this way.”
