Justice League: save your money
Justice League is the third DC comic book movie directed by Zack Snyder. Before it was released, the movie received a great welcome from its movie fans because of the line-up of actors. Their overall anticipation was only heightened by the release of high quality teasers.
However, when the movie was released and everybody went into the theater expecting great battle scenes and thrilling storylines of the heroes, they left only with disappointment. To be honest, the whole movie, which ran 110 minutes, had no other storylines except for what was shown in the teaser that was released beforehand. So really, all you needed to do was to watch the teaser and save yourself some money.
“Well…I guess it’s getting better than the previous ones, but I can’t say that it was good,” said Jackie Shen (11B) However, even though the critics are highly critical of the the movie, some people are saying that it’s getting better than the previous DC Comics movies. Some also say that because the previous ones were so bad, Justice League is kind of pleasurable.
For DC comic fans, another frustration derived from the contrast between the movie’s characterization of the heroes and that of the original comics. Raphael Lee (12B) listed out several points he was disappointed about, “First, they ruined the character Flash because the movie completely disregarded Flash’s wits, charisma, and confidence portrayed in the comics. [Secondly,] wasn’t enough character development for Aquaman. [Lastly,] Batman is special because he is human. His previous movies were fun because they focused on Bruce Wayne’s psychological pain and sacrifices; however, Justice League didn’t portray that well.” Stephanie Chen (12B) added onto Raphael’s critique, claiming, “It’s not authentic to the comics, and they threw too much fluff into Superman’s revival. To be fair, [Justice League] introduced three whole new characters so the plot was wonky.”
At this point, you can probably tell that Justice League is not a movie to be recommended to people who are not interested in superhero movies. However, even if you’re a huge fan of DC Comics movies, it’s not a huge miss either.
