Deep Blue Land: marine interactive exhibition in Shanghai station
With the continuous escalation of domestic consumption, people’s demand for spiritual enjoyment has gradually increased. Places such as ocean halls that contain many functions like entertainment, education, and science popularization have become vital for many families’ entertainment on weekends. However, as most marine mammals failed to adapt to the artifical environment of the aquariums and some even tended to attack humans, many countries have banned the raising of whales, dolphins, and other marine mammals in aquariums.
The emergence of new technology provides us with a favorable turn. Originally, we couldn’t see the ocean life without displays created in aquariums. Now, combined with the investigation of Ms. Michelle Lu, Vice President of National Geographic China, Ms. Lou Yan, President of PADI China, Mr. Ren Zhi, President of Century Hui, and numerous Chinese media companies, the Deep Blue Land Exhibition was established with its use of new technology to accurately display marine life. The new technology have created a more efficient and scientific way to entertain the public.
The exhibition was officially opened to the public on the 5F roof garden of Shanghai Century Plaza. In order to cooperate with the ocean exhibition, the Century Plaza also invited artists to create a variety of artistic installations that featured the ocean theme throughout the shopping mall.
As the visitors visit each section of the Deep Blue Land exhibition (“Blue Yearning,” “Fate Wonder,” “Dancing Kingdom,” “Mermaid Fairytale,” “Soul Apocalypse,” “Holy Watcher,” “Miracle Grand Ceremony,” “Watching Dark Blue”) they can watch a digitized ocean world, created with latest interactive technology, and observe various forms of artistic installations that have restored the marine ecological scene through 3D technology. In this way, the exhibition moves the digitized ocean world to shopping malls and reveals the vitality of marine life to visitors.
Besides providing education and entertainment, the beauty of the marine life displayed in the exhibition is also connected to another central idea of the exhibition, which is to promote the protection of the ocean environment. In order to fulfill their pupose, the exhibition area has set up a special theme of “No Plastic Planet” to appeal to the public to pay more attention to marine ecology.
