Chinese Field Trip To Guangfulin

On October 19, 2023, SMIC students had a language field trip. Those who took Chinese classes went on a field trip to Guangfulin. It is an archaeological site located in Songjiang District, Shanghai, China.

Historical information

This archaeological site was discovered and started construction in 2014. Inside, there are four major museums: Underwater Culture Exhibition Hall, Guangfulin Ruins Exhibition Hall, Pottery Museum, and Wood Art Gallery. The site covers 250 square kilometers and was announced to be the Shanghai Cultural Relics Protection Site. Many different architectural artifacts were found within the area which contained Liangzhu characteristics and the place gained its name due to this discovery.

Missions

Students from every different Chinese class were assigned to accomplish at least two missions. Students in Chinese Literature had to take a picture of temple, ACC Chinese Literature class had to describe the history of the special wall designs, Performing Arts class had to take a picture of a temple, Business Chinese class had to take a picture of houses underwater, Advanced Business Chinese class had to take a picture of the sign that said six meters underwater, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate class had to take a picture of the biggest porcelain pot, Multimedia class had to take a picture of the pillar that hold the cow, Chinese Culture class had to take a picture of the prettiest book store, and AP Chinese class had to take a picture of the longest needle

Schedule of the day

7:55-8:10 Students take attendance in Homeroom

8:15-9:30 Students and teachers meet on the field and get onto the bus

9:30-1:45 Arrive at Guangfulin, and distribute the tickets, students form into groups and separate to accomplish their missions

1:45-3:10 Students meet at the parking lot at Guangfulin and start heading back to school
