Chamber music year-round performance

Beautiful melodies flowed out from the performers’ hands following their every breath. After the performances were over, the audience cheered enthusiastically for the lovely pieces of music they had just listened to. From the flutists and the pianists to the violinists, these students with musical talents wonderfully showcased their instrumental prowess. Beginning from October 17th, the SMIC-I chamber music groups embarked on their year-round music performance project held every Wednesday during lunch at the music lobby. Although the stage provided for the performances was very small, it was decorated elegantly with flowers.
Jisoo Park (12A), one of the performers from a flute and piano duet, said that while playing the flute, “I was really nervous [because] I thought that I should not make a mistake.” Just as he wished, the performance was flawless. However, such perfection is the result of perseverance and hard work. “In order to prepare for the performance, Hyewon and I met during lunch and after school to practice together,” said Jisoo Park. Despite the small size of the stage, the performers still tried their best to convey the most wondrous moments of their musical pieces to the audience.

Although this weekly performance was mainly composed of members from the chamber music group, whoever wanted to showcase their musical talent could participate and were welcomed. Sunny Han (12A), who is not a member of chamber music, was the first guest player invited for the first week of performance. He said that he decided to participate because “I like to play the piano and I like to perform. I thought it would be fun to perform at the recital.”
This music performance is going to be a year-round event. Please go and cheer the performers on and participate if you have any interest in playing music!
