Carnations by Vankie Ma

I was thinking of giving my mother carnations for Mother’s Day. I’ve never tried giving my mother flowers before, and everything was going fine until I arrived at the flower shop.

The owner wasn’t there.

I assumed that she was running a short errand, so I waited. Eventually, I waited so long that the sun was starting to set. I was disappointed, but I wasn’t giving up the plan so easily.

I tried again the next day, and luckily enough, the owner was there.

The smile on my mother’s face after receiving her flowers was all worth the wait.
