Viewing Artworks:

When we take time to watch the art displays in museums or galleries, it is more than just looking at pretty pictures or taking pictures to post in Instagram. Studies have shown that viewing different artworks that focus on different purposes, can make us feel happier, calmer, and inspired. It’s like our brain taking a break from all the complexities, stresses, and burdens life puts on us. Not only that but looking at art also helps us to think more deeply and understand different perspectives of the world the artists have expressed which is very helpful for brain function.

Drawing

Have you ever just doodle in your notebook on the most random things? That’s because drawing and creativity help relieve all the stress and complex thoughts we have. When we draw or paint, we’re expressing ourselves in a way that words can’t always express. Also, the focus required during drawing can help shift the mind away from all the worries and the anxieties, providing a temporary escape from the reality. Furthermore, the processing of finishing an artwork that you spent lot of time on can boost up your confidence. It provides a sense of accomplishment which can motivate you to try harder.

Art Therapy

Art Therapy is actually a well known healing process but people might question the impact on mental health. Engaging in art therapy encourages self reflection and exploration. Many people tend to avoid the issues that they are encountering but art therapy can help you to directly face your problems in a healthy and an examined way. Art therapists guide individuals in examining their artwork, identifying recurring themes, symbols, and patterns that may shed light on their inner world. This process can lead to greater self-awareness, insight, and personal growth. Other than that, art therapy is particularly effective in addressing trauma-related issues. Through art-making, individuals can safely explore and process traumatic memories and experiences. Art therapists employ specialized techniques to help clients regulate their emotions, build coping skills, and promote healing and resilience.

Overall, although it depends on what type of person you are, art therapy provides a powerful way for promoting mental health by facilitating emotional expression, self exploration. and stress reduction.
