The Art Project – Redesign of contemporary issues of three point perspective

Mrs. Irina Edwards assigned an art project to the class of Art and Creativity about three point perspective which was due October 15th. “Art and Creativity class has been working on addressing a contemporary issue that can be improved, adapted, or adjusted with the goal of improving life in various ways,” explained Mrs. Edwards. Mrs. Edwards crafted this project for students who have been learning about three point perspective and watercolor. The purpose of this project was for students to improve their technical skills and creativity by designing the buildings. The objective was also to improve the school environment. Unlike previous years, students were now able to use a variety of materials and mediums besides watercolor to create their work. Due to this freedom of choice, students were more determined to carry out their plans and use their class time more efficiently. Therefore, the projects were more impressive. Mrs. Edwards was pleased by how the students were consistently on task in class, so she gave students the liberty to distribute their work and create their schedule according to their individual needs. I have met three students who were hardworking and confident with their current ideas.

Jaclyn Li (11B) said that she was having a problem with positioning, proportion, and the application of watercolor onto her work. Although she had planned out what to redesign and briefly sketched out different sceneries, she thought that her drawing was too crowded, and so she wanted to delete some parts to establish a more central focus. Her planning process helped her have a better understanding of how vital the organization and placement of objects are to a work of art. Meanwhile, Tina Tai (9B) planned to redesign an exterior of the school by decorating it. Through working on her design, she enjoyed exercising her creativity and imagination. However, she wished she had devoted even more time into developing her ideas. Additionally, Kelly Peak (9B) explained that her project was to “draw the architecture of anything in our school that represents a contemporary issue that can be changed through three-point perspective.” She was trying to integrate the stairs into a nature-related theme.

I look forward to seeing all these students accomplish their tasks skillfully and adeptly. I was also part of the art and creativity class two years ago, and I liked this project because of the inspiring ideas it brought into mind.
