Happy News Around the School
As we return to school this September, happiness is palpable in the air, and everyone is excited for a new start to the year! Upon entering the gates, we could already see faculty waving at students with thrill, and lively grins plastered across people’s faces. As we take a couple more steps on the freshly paved road, the vibrant red tracks come into view, instantly making us all itch for a little run. All of the greenery seems extra enticing, too—the evenly trimmed grass and the change of the flowers planted in the SMIC shape releasing a sweet scent into the air—everything is pleasant, presenting a chorus of sing-song “welcomes” to the happy, new school year.
In various places on campus, we can see cheerful students eagerly attending their classes. Many of them have commented positively on the changes in the school, including the new lockers, the new classrooms, the new courtyards, and in addition, more common areas for people to relax with their friends. Now that the pandemic has finally subsided and we’ve left the COVID era behind, students are no longer required to wear a mask and could forget about the daily nucleic acid tests, giving them plenty of additional time in the morning to catch up with friends or finish some studying.
Also, as we kick off the new year, the SMIC campus welcomes all the students and the staffs with new school facility. The sports courts outside including the track have been changed into brand new court for students to play sports in a better environment. This is definitely a good news for school athletes to play sports after school. Regarding to the school sport activity, SMIC have organized many sports teams for students to join. SMIC’s sports teams are gearing up for a fantastic season ahead! Both boys and girls’ volleyball team has officially started training with new coaches. Students seems thrilled to be back on the court and since COVID is over, there would be more practice games arranged for the students to play. Other than volleyball, there all are other variety of sports that SMIC provides. If anyone have passion for basketball, soccer, badminton, or any other sports make sure to keep an eye out for tryouts! Can’t wait for SMIC athletes to ace their games!
In the math and science office, new and returning teachers are equally ecstatic to be present, likewise with humanities offices. Everyone is engaging in conversations with their colleagues about what they did over the summer, and what plans they have for their courses this year. In underclassmen’s courses, keen eyes all have their eyes on the screen, taking in knowledge for their compulsory core lessons, like biology. On the other hand, in upperclassmen classrooms, intellectual conversations are already flourishing, with everyone already having large amounts of knowledge about the courses they mostly chose themselves, this including most AP courses. Though the coursework can be challenging for all students according to their skill levels, it’ll be assured that they will do well this year, confidently breezing through the tough spots. However, remember to take care of your mental and physical health. Ask for help if there are any difficulties with school or any other concerns. The counseling office is always open for students so don’t be afraid to reach out for help.
Once again, welcome back everyone and hope everyone has a fantastic year in SMIC!
