Skillful matches were played during the Men’s Club World’s Volleyball Championship in Poland

Professional volleyball clubs from all around the world brought volleyball back to the limelight of sports.

Even though there are still a few weeks before the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship, the FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship kicked off with the Men’s Club world tournament which started November 26 and ended on December 2 in Poland. Eight teams were qualified and invited to the tournament. Even though it was only the clubs who played the games, the immense tension and professional plays were just as exciting as the Olympic games played by the national teams.

Trentino Volley—a team from Italy who has four world titles—is the team who won the most medals in the entire competition throughout the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship. The team’s consecutive wins at different leagues demonstrated their strong skills and dominance in the world’s volleyball field. This season is Trentino Volley’s comeback after competing in the FIVB’s Club Championship during 2012.

During the final match, Trentino Volley and Cucine Lube Civitanova both used solid tactics and team cooperation. Trentino Volley won the first match, while Cucine Lube Civitanova won the second; unfortunately, that was the only round that Cucine Lube Civitanova won.

The Cucine Lube Civitanova, a team who emerged victorious in up to ten tournaments in Italy, participated in the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship for the second time. During the semi-finals, Cucine Lube Civitanova lost their first round to Asseco Resovia, but they quickly recovered and earned back three consecutive rounds after that, winning the semi-finals.

Speaking of Asseco Resovia, it was this Poland team’s debut at the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship this year. The Asseco Resovia is one of the earlier clubs which was founded during the 1910s and was six-times Polish Champion and three-times winner of the Polish Cup. After their loss to Cucine Lube Civitanova, they lost another match to the Fakel Novy Urengoy with one win and three losses.

Fakel Novy Urengoy, on the other hand, debuted at the Club Championships this year. As a young family club, the bronze medal they gained during the FIVB Men’s Club World Championship is the best world level record that the team has earned so far.

The tournament was played with the round-robin system, where every team gets to encounter every other team during the pool matches. This system is widely used all around the globe, as it creates an adequately fair result. Each participating club had brought something new to the audiences, demonstrating their hard work from their practices. It was undoubtedly a successful season of volleyball.
