Climate change is real, and denying it is delusional

Climate change denial is delusional and the biggest threat to human survival.

Now, onto the facts proving why climate change is the real deal. According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service report, 2018 was the fourth hottest year ever in recorded history, and it isn’t that far off from being first. According to the numbers, “average world surface air temperatures were 14.7 C in 2018, just 0.2 C off the highest.” In fact ever since 2015, the world has been experiencing the hottest years ever in modern civilization. “Dramatic climatic events like the warm and dry summer in large parts of Europe or the increasing temperature around the Arctic regions are alarming signs to all of us,” said Jean-Noël Thépaut, head of Copernicus. Furthermore, our carbon dioxide levels have risen to a new record in 2018 meaning, in spite of our efforts to reduce fossil fuel consumption with hybrid cars, carbon dioxide concentration would still increase.

Several countries in the EU have recognized and affirmed that they will seek to change their ways to reduce the impending doom on their world with the use of solar and wind power, but America, spearheaded by Donald Trump, has denied the evidence. In fact even a short while before Trump was elected, the Republican Party was “committed to denying the facts on climate change and criminalizing the scientists reporting those facts,” according to Paul Krugman. Why is the president denying the evidence that basically proves climate change is happening right before our eyes? Simple, economics is the reason. Fossil Fuel companies still remain economic powerhouses in the U.S.  Now with “Trumpism” being so popular, anything that goes against the ideas acknowledged by Trump are completely disregarded and called “fake news.” This is the environment we live in. The politicians working in the U.S government are purposely feining ignorance and denying the proof.
